The Well and Bucket located at the end of Bethnal Green Road and just opposite Brick Lane is a regular haunt of mine. Every time we go (which is usually on a Friday or Saturday night where it is bursting at the seams with people… and their dogs) we always say “We should eat here one day”
So in a hope to ring out the last of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend I suggested to my friend that we go for lunch (and a cheeky pint) and we were not disappointed!
It is a great place if you like to order bits to share but they also have main meals. We decided to have some sliders each and share a few sides.
First up… lets talk Crab Fries! I cannot begin to explain how good these were, crispy fries with meaty flaked crab and melted cheese with a cool aioli drizzled on top.. heaven on a plate you ask me!
We also ordered fries with curry sauce (you can never have too many fries right?) the curry sauce was delicious and creamy, like an up market chip shop curry sauce, highly recommended.
Next we got some hot wings to share. Now… when I say Hot Wings I mean HOT wings! I love spicy food and even I struggled with the heat, however, still really tasty, piping hot and saucy with a crispy skin and a blue cheese dip to attempt to cool the heat!
On to sliders, we were both intrigued by the “Beetroot fritter, goats curd and chilli jam” it was really refreshing and not too earthy. As far as veggie options go its far more exciting that your standard mushroom burger. The fritter was crispy and the goats curd and chilli jam complemented each other nicely. I then had the Haddock fish finger and house tartare, you can’t go wrong with a fish finger butty right? Lightly fried fish with a tangy tartare sauce..lovely!! Finally my friend had the Oxtail chilli cheese dog.
All washed down with a cold pint of Camden Hells lager… feeling absolutely stuffed and satisfied we wandered down to the bagel shop on Brick Lane for a dessert to take home … it was Bank Holiday after all!
